APY Lands Road Project (Toll)

Description

The project aims to improve living standards of the local Anangu people by providing better access to essential services and facilities, along with reduced travel times and vehicle operating costs. The works include the formation and sheeting of 43 kilometres of new pavement, mainly along the existing alignment, with some realignment on the adjacent natural surface and will involve improvements to drainage. The works are part of the upgrade of 210 kilometres of the Main Access Road and 21 kilometres of community access roads between the Stuart Highway and Pukatja (Ernabella) in the APY Lands.

Isaac Region Restoration Roadworks (NDRRA)

Description

A total of 706km across 4457 sites will undergo a major restoration through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA). The works to be carried out include restoration of unsealed roads, reconstruction of sealed roads and reconstruction of drainage structures. Seven road teams are dispatched to their work sites around Clermont, Middlemount, Dysart, Moranbah, St Lawrence and Glenden.

Mackay Ring Road Stage 1 (EnProCon & CPB Contractors)

Description

Stage 1 is an 11.3 km ring road route which will connect the Bruce Highway at the Stockroute Road roundabout in the south of Mackay, Queensland through to Bald Hill Road in the north. Benefits: Stage 1 will: - improve safety and road network connectivity - reduce travel time by avoiding 10 signalised intersections - increase freight efficiencies - remove heavy vehicle traffic from Nebo Road - introduce a new river crossing over the Pioneer River - have speed limits of 80km/h and 100km/h (compared to a 60km/h urban network) - pave the way for the first 2.6 km of the Walkerston Bypass

Eton Range Peak Downs Highway Realignment Project (Fulton Hogan)

Description

The road construction project involves widening the Highway from 2 to 4 lanes, a partial realignment of the existing Range crossing, a split carriageway to separate traffic and reduction in grade. To widen part of the existing Range road, a reinforced earth embankment is being constructed which will be 780 metres long and 45 metres tall at its highest point.

Bruce Highway Six Mile Creek to Gavial Creek Safety Upgrades (WBHO INFRASTRUCTURE)

Description

This road works project involves over 12km of improvements to Queensland’s principal north-south Highway route, including road widening and overlay, and intersection upgrades. All works are being delivered under live traffic.

Neerkol Creek Rock-Lining (DTMR)

Description

Lining the east and western banks under the reconstructed Neerkol Creek Bridge (the original being destroyed by Cyclone Marcia) in order to prevent future water damage to the road and rail network in the area.

Cherwell Creek Bridge Replacement (Isaac Regional Council)

Description

Construction of a new bridge delivering an increased deck height by approximately seven meters to provide Q100 flood immunity. The old bridge flooded regularly in major rain events and was heavily affected by Tropical Cyclone Debbie. A further benefit this project will deliver for motorists is improved traffic flow. This is due to the widening of the bridge to 10 meters and increased speed limit of 100km up from 60km.

Peak Downs Highway Timber Bridge Replacement Project (DTMR)

Description

This project involves the construction of 4 new concrete bridges and all associated road works (Pavements, Drainage, surfacing), to replace 4 timber bridges on the Peak Downs highway, west of Mackay. The bridges are located at Boundary Creek, Cut Creek, Lonely Creek and Fiery Creek. Subcontracting to Seymour Whyte Constructions and providing their entire fleet of plant, including final trim graders, final trim excavators, water trucks, truck and dogs, and various other items of plant.

Shoalwater Bay Rehabilitation Project – Australian Defence Force – BMD Group (Australian Defence Force)

Description

The Shoal Water bay project involved the rehabilitation of approx. 180km of Asset and Non-Asset roads, construction of new roads, maintenance to drainage structures and 100km worth of table drain and embankment repairs, in and around the Shoal Water Bay army training facility in Central Queensland. Essjay supplied 2 full rehab crews to undertake the mammoth task, just in time for the yearly Operation Talisman Sabre.

Waste Transfer Station – Springsure (CHRC)

Description

Provision of Civil construction and project management services for the upgrade of the Springsure Waste Transfer Station. This project involved detailed drainage and pavement works for the upgraded facility. Works involved construction of new access roads, hardstands, tipoff areas, culverts and drainage works.

Burua NBN Tower Access Upgrade Project – DTMR

Description

Construction of intersection access and widening on the Dawson Highway between Gladstone and Calliope. Construction of this project involved excavation to subgrade, subgrade treatment, placement of RCBC, detailed pavement and drainage works and road surfacing. The works were built to the Department of Transport and Main Roads Specifications and standards to allow larger vehicles access into the property for the installation and maintenance of a new NBN tower. The project was completed for a number of clients, all of whom are involved in the construction of the NBN network throughout Australia.

Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal – Minor Works Project – John Holland Group

Description

The WICET minor works project consisted of various major and minor works within, and outside of the coal terminal. Roads, surfacing, drainage, access, concrete and pipeline works were conducted over a 3-month period, prior to the terminal becoming a fully operational site. Essjay Contracting, along with PPH Civil, supplied the full suite of plant, equipment, labourers and operators, to successfully complete works for John Holland. The projects expenditure was approx. $1 million per week, and had to be completed prior to August. The project finished under budget and under time.

Landing Road and Reid Road Intersection Works – DTMR

Description

The Landing Road project consisted of upgrading and re-aligning a major arterial intersection between Gladstone and Mt Larcom in Central Queensland, including detailed drainage and pavement works. The Reid Road intersection sub project, consisted of the installation of services to install traffic lights, pavements, kerbs and surfacing, adjacent to the Orica Ammonia Sulphate Plant in Gladstone. Essjay, alongside PPH Civil supplied BMD with the necessary plant and operators to successfully complete this project.

Coppabella Rail Shutdown – Maintenance Works – Aurizon

Description

The Coppabella rail shutdown project involved the replacement of approx. 400m of rail pavement, ballast and running tracks. In addition, there were also a number of drainage elements, including culverts and drains that were constructed and rehabilitated throughout the project. Essjay contracting supplied all of the necessary machines, equipment and operators to successfully complete this project for BMD/Aurizon.

Kabra Holdings Rail Project – Segment 2 of the Rocklands to Stanwell Rail Duplication – Aurizon

Description

This project involved the construction of access roads, drainage and support facilities for 18km of duplicated railway track between Rocklands and Stanwell, Central Queensland and construction of three rail bridges at Burnett Highway, Four Mile Creek and Neerkol Creek. Subcontracting to Seymour Whyte Constructions, providing final trim graders, water trucks, truck and dog combinations, excavators, loaders and skid steer loader.

Description
